The Villagers of Stiltsville

I came across this poem while reading Fearless by Max Lucado

Perhaps you don't know,
then, maybe you do,
about Stiltsville, the village,
(so strange but so true)

where people like we,
some tiny, some tall,
with jobs and kids
and clocks on the wall

keep an eye on the time.
For each evening at six,
they meet in the square
for the purpose of sticks,
tall stilts upon which

Stiltsvillians can strut
and be lifted above
those down the rut:

the less and the least,
the Tribe of Too smalls,
the not cools and have-nots
who want to be tall

but can't, because
in the giving of sticks,
their name was not called.
They didn't get picked.

Yet still they come
when the villagers gather;
they press to the front
to see if they matter

to the clique of the cool,
the court of high clout,
that decides who is special,
and declares with a shout,

"You're classy!" "You're pretty!"
"You're clever" or "funny!"
And bequeath a prize,
not of medals or money,

not a freshly baked pie
or a house someone built,
but the oddest of gifts--
a gift of some stilts.

Moving up is their mission,
going higher in aim.
"Elevate your position"
is the name of their game.

The higher-ups of stilsville
(you know if you're there)
make big to-do
of the sweetness of thin air.

They relish the chance
on their high apparatus
to strut on their stilts,
the ultimate status.

For isn't life best
when you view from the top?
Unless you stumble
and suddenly are not

so sure of your footing.
You tilt and then sway.
"look out bel-o-o-o-w!"
and you fall straightaway

into the Too Smalls,
hoi polloi of earth.
You land on your pride--
oh boy, how it hurts

when the chic police,
in the jilt of all jilts,
don't offer to help
but instead take your stilts.

"Who made you kind?"
you start to complain
but then you notice the hour
and forget your refrain.

It's almost six!
No time for chatter.
It's back to the crowd
to see if you matter.

Stiltsvillians still cluster,
and crowds still clamor,
but more stay away.
They seem less enamored

since the Carpenter came
and refused to be stilted.
He chose low over high,
left the system tip-tilted.

"You matter already,"
he explained to the town.
"Trust me on this one.
Keep your feet on the ground."

Meteor Shower

This last Wednesday a large group of friends and I went to watch the Perseid meteor shower! It was a spectacular show! The best one we saw all night was huge, compared to all the others. It had a purple tint (what I saw) some of the others claimed it to have a few other colors too! It was slow moving and simply breathtaking. As the meteor disappeared a trail was left behind from the rock hurling through the stars. The simple white/clear trail stayed behind for around 5-10 seconds, not really long, but long for a meteor trail! It was a beautiful sight and I feel so blessed to have seen it!

Melt My Heart

I give all I have to you God.
Melt my heart and make it new for you...I want to love as you do.
I am yours and you are mine.
Open my eyes to see the world as you do oh God.
All my love is for you first.
Awaken me to what life really is Father.
I will follow oh God to where ever you lead me.
Light a lamp for my feet, though I know with you I am not lost.
Father God in heaven, I want to love you with all I am.
I want to be a vessel for you to move through to reach the lost.
To sow the seed.
To show Your love and mercy.
You are for now and forever, today and future.
Melt my heart for you Father.

True Beauty

Being beautiful is not a size 0
Beauty is not how much make up you wear
Being beautiful starts inside
Beauty is determined by your heart
Beauty as defined by the dictionary is an excellent quality; the qualities that a person has
Beautiful is an adjective used to describe things as possessing beauty
Being beautiful as the world has made it seem is wrong...true beauty starts with a beautiful heart.
Be true to you because who you are is beautiful and changing who you are to fit someone else's mold of beauty will just hurt you

So it's been a while since I have posted. Sorry about that, I guess I got distracted by life, it happens. I've finished school for the 2009/2010 school year. I received the honor as one of two students of the year at my high school! I feel greatly honored. I also got a 4.0 for my freshman year in college. I feel very blessed and grateful to God for always being there for me and for blessing me with a love to learn.
I did a cleansing fast and just started eating more than fruits and veggies today! I missed food, but I feel healthier, I might even have more energy =]
Vacation starts on July 1st! I'm very excited to see some old friends and familiar places!
So I guess that's really all I have to say for now...I will be posting a list of 25 must read books soon =]

My Wishes...

My heart I give to you first,

My soul belongs to only You,

My mind may stray but to You it returns,

These obstacles that slow me down are small compared to You,

Your love and strength give me the power to break down the barriers,

The barriers that keep me from following You,

Your love and power are within me,

I lay all of me, heart, soul, and mind, at Your feet Lord,

Let Your love surround me and Your power give me strength.

Holy Spirit wash over me,

Guide each step I take,

Urge me to stay on this path,

The path to the future God has written for my life,

I want that story to come true,

He has written my fairytale,

And I am ecstatic to walk the roads He’s set in my way,

For my feet to follow,

His word is what will guide me:

Psalm 119:105

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.”

"Tie"-Dyed Eggs

So this is pretty much the coolest way to dye Easter eggs!!! You can find directions to dye eggs like this online. Here is a link:

This one had a little surprise when it was unwrapped!
This was one of the neatest patterns that we had.
Even in black and white the eggs are stunning.
This first four that we unwrapped.
These three were my favorite colored eggs.
This is definitely my favorite ways to dye eggs. Each one comes out different and they are all really neat. The patterns and the colors are awesome!

Today was Good Friday. But what is Good Friday? What is it's significance? One answer...excuse truth. Today, Good Friday, is the day that Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior died for each and everyone of us. He died so that we might be forgiven of our wicked that we might know the almighty father in heaven. Jesus paid the ultimate price for you...for me...for your neighbor...for that weird kid a few blocks down. He did that so we might know the most amazing love that could ever be known. So Good Friday...definitely good and oh so very important. The day to honor Christ's sacrifice for us. Thank you!
(Luke 23:34-49)

Easter, which is this Sunday, is the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The day that our Lord, who died for us, rose from the grave. So, not only do we now have the ability to know God, but can also now know Jesus Christ, the son of God who died for our sins.
(Luke 24:1-12)

A beautiful weekend to celebrate ahead!

Luke 23:34 "Forgive them Father for they know not what they do."

Luke 24:6 "...He has risen!..."(NIV)

I spent the majority of today cleaning my room and it did not occur to me to take before pictures until I was halfway done cleaning.
Believe me when I say you could barely see the floor and it looked like hell let loose in my room. There was hardly any room on my bed, shoes were every where, and I still had clean clothes in a basket on the floor.
Here is what the result of my labor looks like!

It's a great feeling to have accomplished something for yourself. Doing something for someone else feels ten times better. I did major mopping for my mom the other day and doing that felt much more satisfying then super cleaning my room.
Try doing a little something or a big something for someone else without them asking and see for yourself how it feels!

A beautiful day to start Spring break! Not a cloud in sight, bright sunshine, and a breeze that is ever so slightly too cold. There are things in bloom and those that are on the cusp of gracing us with there hidden beauty. Here is what was around my house:

My fish and a maple reflection

A bleeding heart or two

Pretty purple

Waiting to bloom
Lilacs getting ready to explode with fragrance
Get ready to start enjoying the color and fragrance of Spring!

Keep your pencils sharp and your mind sharper! Finals are upon us and Spring break is on the horizon!

Lovely Mistakes

The picture in the title was a mistaken beauty. I was trying to take a picture of myself for a profile picture and when I turned my phone around I got the lovely surprise of that beautiful mistake!

The beauty of nature in that picture is the pureness of God's oncoming Spring!
